What did you want to be when you grew up? . I did my first climbing competition when I was 7 years old and this sparked a dream. A dream I never expected to become a reality. A few weeks back I chatted to @welooksideways about my life and how I ended up where I am now. The link is in my bio if you’d like to hear us chat about how it all began, my goals, my mental approach, injuries, the Olympics, my team and a whole lot more. 🙂 . #climbing #dream #goals #believe #positivity @adidasterrex #tbt
As an athlete the most important thing I can do is listen to my body. After much thought and consideration I have decided not to participate in the British Bouldering Championships this weekend. The World Cup season has been incredibly demanding and I need to look after my body. There is a lot of climbing ahead of me between now and the end of 2017 that I want to focus on, including the final of the World Cup season in Munich and a long planned trip to Rocklands. I will, of course, be there to cheer my fellow climbers on and I will be doing a poster signing between 4- 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday at the BMC stand. Making up boulder problems is something I have done since I was very young. I look at a climbing wall and can’t help thinking of crazy moves and wondering “could i jump from there to there”, “can I fit it that space”, “is that foothold useable as a hand hold”, “can I climb that without my hands”, “can I climb that without my feet”… The list goes on and on. Basically I look at a wall and see a lot of silly ideas. Fortunately @leahcraneclimbing is always up for getting involved and is just as ridiculous as me when it comes to thinking up weird and wonderful moves. Most sessions result in lots of laughter, some epic fails and some cool moves too. Here’s a four point start from a boulder we made up today that required wedging yourself in the corner and trying not to fall out or slip off. . . . #climbing #silly #games #trainhard #havefun
